Fox is buying Roku

Fox is acquiring Roku outright in a deal valued at $22 billion. This acquisition will merge Fox’s television networks and its streaming service, Tubi, with Roku’s extensive network of streaming devices, smart TV software, and The Roku Channel.

The combined entity is projected to become the third-largest player in the United States television industry based on viewing share. This strategic move aims to consolidate significant assets in the media and technology sectors.

Despite the acquisition, Roku is expected to maintain its position as an open platform, continuing to support content from various providers. Fox has also stated its commitment to ensuring the widespread distribution of its own content across platforms.
