In addition to banning the sale of new gas-powered leaf blowers, the bill includes prohibitions on the sale of several other gasoline-powered tools. These include new gas-powered snow blowers, chainsaws, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, and lawn mowers. The legislation aims to reduce emissions and noise pollution associated with these types of equipment.
The law is set to take effect on July 1, 2025. This provides a transition period for manufacturers, retailers, and consumers to adapt to the changes in the market for outdoor power equipment. The ban specifically targets the sale of new units, implying that existing gas-powered equipment may still be used after the effective date.
